I had the great pleasure of being part of a project celebrating Afro-Colombians called Colors of Colombia by The Land of Milk and Honey. I loved the authenticity of it especially that it had Afro-Colombians from Buenaventura, San Andres, Cartagena & Bogota. It’s crazy how we all somehow ended up in New York; we’re everywhere. Fun fact: Colombia has the third-largest population of Black people in the Western Hemisphere, trailing only the U.S. & Brazil (countries twice its size). and the largest Black population of any Spanish-speaking country.

Check it out below!

This project makes me so emotional. To be seen, to be included, to represent, to be styled by the incredibly talented @alexanderjulian

So many emotions but the biggest one being we ATE lol. And what made it even more special is that I go to do it with my older cousin (she’s the one doing my hair in the pic).

From their website: The Land of Milk and Honey is an audit of the American Dream, in the form of a series of photo essays and interviews with immigrant families of color. The United States of America is famously known as a “land of immigrants.” This idea is often used to signal some kind of shared allegiance or ideology between immigrants. In response, this ongoing project interrogates and celebrates the ways in which these groups are different. The way their experiences vary, intersect and deviate, all within the spectrum of the American experience.

This Ain’t No BBL – Fitness Journey

I’ve been on a fitness journey for over a year now. And to be honest, I weigh the same I did a year ago. I have a love-hate relationship with the gym. On the one hand, it’s a significant energy boost, and on the other hand, it gives me crazy body dysmorphia.
