The Best Hotels Under $200/night in Medellin, Colombia
Here are some of the best hotels in Medellin, from luxury spots to budget-friendly hostels, that’ll make you want to extend your stay. After four visits, I’ve learned that location is everything, and Poblado is hands down the best neighborhood for first-time visitors.
Why Poblado? It’s safe, walkable, packed with restaurants and nightlife, and it’s easy to get everywhere you’ll want to explore. Plus, there are an insane number of amazing hotels here for less than $200 per night, which would cost triple in most major U.S. cities.

Seissta Medellin – Best Views in the City
Why I love it: Wake up to stunning valley vistas. The rooms with patios are my favorites | Perfect for: Travelers who want Instagram-worthy views | Vibe: Bright, Quiet, & Wellness focused
Seissta Medellin offers what I consider the best views in all of Medellin. Perched perfectly in Poblado, you’ll get those postcard-worthy shots of the city sprawling across the valley surrounded by green mountains.
I’ve stayed in the Deluxe Apartment Terrace (Noir and Classic) rooms. The rooms are modern and comfortable, but honestly, you’ll spend most of your time on the terrace just staring at those views. There isn’t AC in the living room (can open all the windows though), but there is in the bedroom. Floor-to-ceiling windows & access to the balcony in both the living room & bedroom.
Seissta is like an apartment meets hotel, so rooms come with a microwave, fridge, stovetop, air fryer, and more. Have you ever seen an air fryer in a hotel?! There’s also free access to the gym next door included with your stay, as well as in-room spa services, pre-arrival grocery delivery, tours, airport transfers, and more, all available for an additional cost.
Selvario36 – Grown and Sexy Vibes
Why I love it: Perfect blend of luxury and functionality with beautiful design. The views and pool on the rooftop are divine | Perfect for: Couples or anyone wanting upscale vibes | Vibe: Sophisticated, intimate, design-forward
If you’re looking for a more mature and refined experience, Selvario36 is the spot. This boutique hotel exudes a “grown and sexy” energy that makes you feel sophisticated just by walking through the lobby. The design is sleek and modern without being cold, and the service makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere special.
The location in Poblado puts you within walking distance of the best restaurants and nightlife, but the hotel itself feels like a peaceful retreat from the city’s energy.

Hashtag98 – Well Located and Budget Friendly
Why it’s great: Excellent value for money without sacrificing quality or location | Perfect for: Budget-conscious travelers who still want to be in the heart of Poblado | Vibe: Modern, practical, Comfortable
Hashtag98 hits that sweet spot of being well-located in Poblado while staying budget-conscious. It is extremely well-located, with a rooftop, and complimentary breakfast is included in your stay. The rooms on higher floors have great views, but if having a balcony in your room is important to you, then book a room at Seissta.
The hotel has an industrial feel, and the staff is helpful with recommendations for restaurants and activities. For the price point, it’s hard to beat the combination of location and quality.
Los Patios Hostel – My Top Hostel Recommendation
Why it stands out: Great for meeting other travelers while staying in prime Poblado location | Perfect for: Solo travelers, backpackers, or anyone wanting to meet other travelers | Vibe: Social but not overwhelming, international crowd
Before you turn your nose up at staying at a hostel, hostels in Medellin are very nice and give boutique hotel vibes. Los Patios is hands down the best hostel option in Poblado. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between social and chill—you can meet fellow travelers without feeling like you’re in a party hostel. The common areas are well-designed for hanging out, there’s a pool on the rooftop, and the location puts you right in the middle of Poblado’s action.
I stayed in a private room, which was clean and comfortable (important for hostel standards), and the staff knows the city well enough to give you insider recommendations. They also offer daily tours, including a free walking tour of Medellín. If you’re really on a tight budget, there are dorm room-style options available.
Hotels I Haven’t Stayed at But Would Love To
These are on my list for future visits based on their reputation and what I’ve heard from other travelers:
23 Hotel
The appeal: Boutique property with stunning design and attention to detail
This boutique hotel has been getting rave reviews for its unique design and personalized service. From what I’ve seen, it looks like the kind of place where every corner is Instagram-worthy, but in an authentic way rather than trying too hard.
Click Clack Hotel
The appeal: Modern, stylish, and perfectly located in Poblado
Click Clack has that contemporary Colombian design that feels both international and distinctly local. The rooftop looks incredible, and the location in Poblado seems ideal for exploring the city.
Wake Hotel
The appeal: Contemporary vibes with excellent amenities
Wake has been recommended to me by several fellow travelers who loved the modern atmosphere and quality of service. This is Seissta’s more expensive sister hotel.
The Marquee Hotel
The appeal: Luxury option for special occasions
The Marquee appears to be Medellin’s answer to high-end luxury hotels. While I haven’t experienced it personally, it’s definitely on my list for a future special occasion trip.
