The Best Boutique Hotels in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Here are some of the best boutique hotels in Puerto Rico if you’re planning a trip to San Juan and looking for a place that’s a bit more intimate and stylish than your average hotel. Since one of the biggest expenses during a trip to Puerto Rico will be your hotel stay, you might as well make sure it’s worth the expensive price tag.
My favorite boutique hotels in Puerto Rico are La Botànica Hotel, Dreamcatcher, and Duna by Dreamers Welcome, all in the San Juan area.
La Botànica Hotel
La Botànica Hotel is one of the best boutique hotels in San Juan. As soon as you walk in, you’re surrounded by lush greenery. This eco-friendly gem uses sustainable practices and materials to offer you a tranquil yet environmentally responsible stay. With its own rooftop garden supplying the kitchen, you can feast on the freshest farm-to-table vegan breakfast.
Each room is uniquely designed and decorated with vintage furniture picked by the owner and one-of-a-kind art. There are only six rooms on this property.
All rooms and bookings come with a vegetarian breakfast, 24/7 coffee and an herbal tea station, a cooler for the beach, a beach bag with a picnic blanket, beach and bath towels, a fridge, microwave, ironing board, blow dryer, hangers, and biodegradable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

During my two-night stay, I stayed in two rooms: The Glasshouse and White Cottage. While I loved the design and vibe of both suites, I felt there wasn’t much privacy in the Glasshouse room if I opened the curtains since the windows faced the lobby and main hang-out area of the hotel. But both rooms were cozy and great for creating content.
The Glasshouse amenities include a queen-sized bed, a private indoor bathroom, a one-of-a-kind vintage outdoor bathtub, an additional outdoor private shower, fully equipped kitchenette.
White Cottage amenities include a king-sized bed, organic cotton sheets, a coffee maker & tea kettle, and an oil diffuser.
Both rooms come with AC.

Duna by Dreamers Welcome
Duna by DW is a boutique hotel in Puerto Rico part of Dreamers Welcome. Duna is a kind of mix of boutique hotel and Airbnb with seven self-check-in properties in the Santurce neighborhood. Imagine a chic backyard pool that’s perfect for lounging and vibrant white spaces that’ll have you wanting to extend your stay.
And there’s more than just good looks. The super-fast WiFi, clean desks, and peaceful lobby-free environment make it ideal for working remotely. You can literally work from paradise, taking breaks to go to the beach about 10-15 minutes away for a quick dip.
I stayed in the Nomad room on the first floor. The suite had a kitchenette, a wrap-around private terrace, and an outdoor and indoor shower. Ideal for up to 2 guests. Just be aware that when booking through their website, there’s an additional charge of up to $200 for the entirety of your stay, making the price per night jump significantly.
Dreamcatcher Boutique Hotel by Dreamers Welcome
Dreamcatcher by Dreamers Welcome is the ultimate boutique hotel for boho-chic enthusiasts. About a 10-minute walk from the beach, this place captures the free-spirited vibe of San Juan with its local art decorations and handcrafted furnishings. This boutique hotel is all about wellness, where you can start your day with beach yoga, enjoy vegetarian meals, and dive into the local culture with curated experiences. Dreamcatcher invites you to relax, connect, and soak in the bohemian spirit of Puerto Rico.
